Starting something new can feel a bit intimidating, especially when it comes to fitness. And if you’ve heard about CrossFit, it can seem even more intense at first.
At our gym in Hang Dong, you’ll join a regular class from day one. That might sound a bit daunting, but it actually works really well.
You’ll be training alongside others, but everything is adjusted to your level. The coach will guide you through each part of the session, and the people around you are always encouraging and supportive.
In this post, we’ll walk you through what your first class looks like, so you know exactly what to expect and can come in feeling more relaxed.

Warm-Up to Get Your Body Ready
Every class starts with a warm-up to get you moving and ready for the workout.
Nothing complicated, just simple movements to raise your heart rate and loosen everything up. You might do a bit of rowing or light cardio, along with things like arm circles, squats, or hip openers.
It’s there to help you:
Get your body ready so you’re less likely to get injured
Start getting familiar with some of the movements you’ll use later
The coach will guide you through it and keep an eye on how you’re moving, so you can take it at your own pace and feel comfortable from the start.
Learning the Movements Step-by-Step
After the warm-up, the coach will walk you through the movements for the workout.
Everything is explained in a simple, easy-to-follow way. You’re not expected to know anything beforehand, and you won’t be jumping straight into anything complicated.
For example, if there are squats in the workout, the coach will show you how to do them properly and point out a few key things to focus on. You’ll also get time to try it out and ask questions before the workout starts.
The focus here is on doing things properly, not rushing through it. That’s how you build a solid foundation, stay safe, and feel more confident as you go.
A Scaled Workout Designed for Beginners
CrossFit workouts can look intense from the outside, but your first class is always adjusted to your level.
Scaling simply means we adapt the workout so it feels right for you. You’re not expected to do the same version as everyone else.
That might look like:
Using lighter weights, or no weight at all
Doing fewer reps
Swapping movements for simpler versions
For example, instead of a full pull-up, you might use a resistance band or do ring rows. If there’s running, you can go at your own pace, whether that’s a jog or a walk.
The goal is to challenge you just enough without it feeling overwhelming. We’ll guide you on pacing and help you listen to your body, so you can build confidence as you go.

Supportive Coaching Focused on Safety
One thing that surprises a lot of people in their first class is how structured and supportive it actually feels.
Our coaches focus on helping you move well first. It’s not about going as fast or as hard as possible, especially when you’re just starting out.
You can expect:
Guidance on your movements so you know what you’re doing.
Clear explanations and demos before you start.
Plenty of chances to ask questions at any point.
We’re there to keep an eye on things, give you feedback, and help you feel comfortable as you go.
You’re not left trying to figure things out, and there’s no pressure to keep up with anyone else.

What You Should Bring and Wear
To keep things simple for your first class, here are a few easy tips:
Wear something comfortable that you can move freely in
Bring a water bottle
Wear supportive training shoes
Try to arrive about 10–15 minutes early so you can check in and meet the coach
That’s really all you need. We’ve got all the equipment here, so you don’t have to worry about bringing anything else.
What Happens After Your First Class
After your first class, you’ll have a much better feel for how everything works.
For most people, it’s a lot less intimidating than they expected, and many end up looking forward to coming back.
From there, things build gradually:
You keep working on technique and moving well
The workouts naturally get a bit more challenging as you improve
You can start setting simple goals with your coach
There’s no rush with any of it. You go at your own pace and build things up over time.
