So, before you dive into your first Pulmo Weightlifting class, here's everything you should anticipate and how to get prepared.
WHAT TO BRING
All you need to bring to your first Pulmo Weightlifting class is a water bottle, comfortable workout attire, and suitable gym shoes. We will provide all other necessary equipment for your workout.
RESERVE YOUR SPOT IN CLASS
Our gym offers a range of classes throughout the day, from early mornings to evenings. We limit class sizes to ensure personalized coaching, so it's vital to reserve your spot before arriving.
Make sure to inform us that this is your first class. You can find our contact information on our website or give us a call.
ARRIVE EARLY
We require you to arrive 10-15 minutes early to complete waivers and familiarize yourself with the facility, including restroom locations, storage areas, and equipment placement.
MEET YOUR COACH
Before the class begins, introduce yourself to your coach and inform them that this is your first Pulmo Weightlifting class. They will guide you through the entire session and address any questions you may have. If you have any injuries, be sure to notify them so they can tailor your workout accordingly.
WHAT TO EXPECT DURING A PULMO WEIGHTLIFTING CLASS
A Pulmo Weightlifting class is a 75-90 minute group session led by a coach. A typical class follows this structure:
Class Briefing — At the start of the class, the group gathers around a whiteboard. Your coach explains the workout, the included movements, the intended workout goals, and suggestions for scaling.
Don't worry if you're unfamiliar with the listed movements; your coach will guide you through them after the briefing. Your first class focuses on learning proper techniques, using lightweight equipment for any barbell exercises, and adapting other movements to your current fitness level.
Warm-up — Your coach leads the class through a warm-up to prepare for the workout.
Skill Development — The coach conducts skill development exercises, typically related to the movements featured in the workout.
Workout Preparation — Participants gather the necessary equipment, such as barbells or rowing machines, to begin the workout.
Workout — Your coach starts the timer and everyone completes the workout together.
Clean-Up — After the workout, participants exchange fist bumps and high-fives, clean and store their equipment, and return to the whiteboard to record their scores.
TRACK YOUR PROGRESS
At the end of the class, you'll return to the whiteboard to record your workout score. This could be your workout completion time, the number of repetitions you achieved, or the weight on your barbell.
We focus on measurable, observable, and repeatable progress. Don't worry about comparing your score to others; this is your starting point!
CONNECT WITH YOUR CLASSMATES
Community is a significant aspect of Pulmo Weightlifting. Introduce yourself to your fellow classmates; they all recall their first class experience and can help you feel at home in the class. This is also your opportunity to gauge if our gym's community is the right fit for you.
EMBRACE AN OPEN-MINDED APPROACH
Our classes can be challenging, and we won't sugarcoat it. However, that's what makes it so empowering. Soon, you'll achieve feats you never thought possible, such as handstands, rope climbs, or your first pull-up.
But remember, progress takes time.
Use your first class to get a taste of Pulmo Weightlifting, learn more about our offerings, and most importantly, have fun. You'll gain more insights with each passing session.
